What's On at The Hive This Christmas?

Expect a Hive of activity this year at Worcester’s library and history centre

With a bigger than ever annual Lantern Parade and Christmas choir performance, preschool Christmas activities, Christmas stories, Elizabethan decoration making and a festive show of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Kids can get creative at The Hive with lantern making workshops which take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 November, and Saturday 3 December at 11am and 1.30pm. Crowngate Shopping Centre is also hosting a workshop on Sunday 4 December from 12 to 2pm. Ready for this year’s enchanting lantern parade that is taking to the City on Thursday 8 December at 6pm.

The parade will begin with Christmas music at The Guildhall before meandering through the City, soaking in the festive atmosphere, and finishing its journey at The Hive for a Christmas carol performance from Got 2 Sing’s 80 choir singers.

Children can enjoy a drink and snack at The Hive as well as the opportunity to take part in making Worcester’s longest paper chain.

Christmas crafts continue through December with pre-schooler fun on Thursday 1 and 8 December at 10.30am – 12pm at The Hive with Christmas themed sessions by Young at Art for the under 5’s.

A full day of festivities for children takes place on Saturday 10 December. Starting in the morning with Elizabethan Christmas decoration in the children’s library at 10am, 11am, 12pm and 2pm, Jack and the Beanstalk performance from Story Box Theatre at 2pm and 4pm, and Christmas Rat-a-tat Tales at 11am and 3pm.

Rat-a-tat Tales will take place every Saturday and Sunday through December until Christmas Eve. Singing festive songs and telling stories from Christmas books in The Hive.

From Christmas Eve The Hive opening times will change, closing at 1pm on the 24 December and remaining closed until 28 December. It will reopen on the 28 December from 8.30am to 7pm until New Year’s Eve when The Hive will close at 3pm. It will remain closed for the bank holidays and reopen on Tuesday 3 January and continue its normal hours of operation from 8.30am to 10pm.
