New Season, New Events at The Hive

The Hive, Worcester’s joint university and public library and history centre, is launching its new season of events for children, families and adults from September through to the end of 2016.

The Beeline University of Worcester Storytelling Festival for Children, Space Night, Halloween performances, craft workshops, and the new Authors Spotlight are just some of the events that are starting this season leading into Christmas activities at The Hive.

The Authors Spotlight is a new series that will bring new, local and a big named author to The Hive each season. This Autumn there are four author events taking place, including BAFTA nominee Deborah Moggach – author of ‘These Foolish Things’ filmed as ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’.

The Beeline, University of Worcester Storytelling Festival for Children, will include ‘story pit tales’ by professional storytellers every Saturday through October, as well as a monster making workshop and Little Frankenstein show by Lempen Puppet Theatre Company in the October half-term.

This year’s Space Night on Wednesday 3 October includes a show designed by NASA scientists where the audience will learn about rocket building, launching and other space phenomena. The evening promises to be a hands-on, fun night for all the family finishing with a live rocket launch (weather permitting).

The end of year finale is The Hive’s festive season of creative Christmas themed workshops, the annual lantern parade, Jack and the Beanstalk Christmas Show, decoration making and Rat-a-tat Tales taking place throughout December.

The Hive What’s On guide can be viewed online, and is also available in The Hive and other libraries and venues across the City. Feast your eyes on a varied programme of exhibitions, adult learning workshops and courses, talks and discussions, business events, groups and activities for young people and children, films, special events and Explore the Past sessions.

Want to have your say on The Hive’s events programme? This season you can. A feedback questionnaire is in each of the What’s On booklets and is available online.

The Hive is open seven days a week 8am to 10pm.
