Volunteer For Summer Experience

The Hive is geared up for a summer full of fun children’s activities and is looking to recruit new young volunteers aged 12 to 24 years to help at events in the library.

In June The Hive launched its Summer Reading Challenge, an annual event run by The Reading Agency in libraries across the country to encourage children from ages 4 to 12 to borrow and read six books.

Throughout the summer holidays The Hive organise a number of activities for children such as ‘make and take’ crafts. Temporary volunteers are being recruited to offer support with activities, assist visitors to the library and talk to children about their reading during the summer holidays.

Janine Downes, Library Services Manager at The Hive, said: “Volunteers already support lots of activities at The Hive. They really add value to what we do, and help make the customer's experience an excellent one.

“The Hive is a busy venue and a great place for young volunteers to experience working in a unique facility, learn something new and meet new people. Lots of our volunteers go on to work here at the Hive or in roles elsewhere.

“We have been busy creating fun events for children and would love to recruit some enthusiastic volunteers from 12 to 24 to give a helping hand.”
