Digital Festival at The Hive for the Next Generation

3D Scanning, LEGO Mindstorms and many more interactive digital activities will be showcased at The Hive on Thursday 27 June for the return of the Digital Festival Family Night.

In its second year, the festival introduces children to a mix of fun technology as well as teaching them the basics of programming, 3D equipment and educational gaming.

Janine Downes, Manager of The Hive, said: “Digital technology is a fantastic platform to help children learn new skills and we’re sure that both children and parents will be fascinated by some of the software and activities we will be showcasing at The Hive.”

Starting at 4:30pm, there are a great range of free activities and games for families to try their hand at. Children aged seven to 13 can book a place on a 30 minute taster session to learn the basics of LEGO Mindstorms programming and attempt to navigate a LEGO robot around a track. These bookable sessions are at 4.45pm, 5.30pm, 6:15pm and 7pm and cost £3.95.

For younger children there are make and take mini robot craft sessions at 5pm and 6pm and cost £2.50 per child.

Janine Downes added: “The LEGO Mindstorm tickets are already going very quickly, so if people are interested they should try to book on soon to avoid disappointment, but there will be plenty to join in with on the night.”
