The Hive - meet the people - Jade

With the opening of Worcestershire's latest iconic landmark just a matter of days away, all this week we'll be introducing you to some of soon-to-be familiar faces under its gold cladded roof.

Around 150 members of staff will soon call The Hive their place of work. Among them is Jade Allen, who will be tasked with keeping visitors fed and watered during their stay. She will be serving dishes and snacks made from locally produced food behind the counter at The Hive's Pear Tree Café, situated near its main entrance.

Jade has been working with The Pear Tree Food Company for five years at their current location; the Orchard Café at Worcester Woods County Park. She is looking forward to meeting and serving The Hive's many visitors. She said "I am looking forward to working in a different environment, this is a big step for The Pear Tree Food Company and I am excited to be a part of it. The Orchard Cafe is an award winning cafe in the woods and hopefully we can be an award winning cafe in The Hive."

The café's menu will be created using ingredients from local, free-range and sustainable sources, supporting local producers and with it the sustainable and environmentally friendly features of the building.

Opening on July 2, The Hive will be home to the first joint public and university library in Europe, one of the biggest children's libraries in the UK, the county's archives and archaeology service, the Worcester Hub customer contact centre and a contemporary business centre.
