The Hive - meet the people - Uriel

With the opening of Worcestershire's latest iconic landmark just a matter of days away, all this week we'll be introducing you to some of soon-to-be familiar faces under its gold cladded roof.

Around 150 members of staff will soon call The Hive their place of work. Among them is Uriel, part of the security team who are likely be the first faces visitors see when they visit the building. Uriel has been at The Hive since the building phase was completed in January 2012. Working in the predominately empty building pre-opening, the security guard is looking forward to seeing it come alive with Hive users when the doors open on July 2.

He said: "I have been working in an empty shell for the last few months and have had a great view of the building as it develops and the services begin to take shape. The pre-opening public events have been wonderful and I've seen so many people enjoy the tasters they've been given. My job is to ensure those who visit the building enjoy a safe stay and I can't wait to see the first visitors approach the door on July 2."

As well as having a security qualification, Uriel also studied drama at the University of Worcester and says his love of a good book and interest in the arts means he's looking forward to using The Hive in a non-work related way too: "Although it's been great to work in the building as it grows, I can't wait to use it as a customer too; there is so much for people to do and see."

Opening on July 2, The Hive is a partnership between the University of Worcester and Worcestershire County Council. Home to the first joint public and university library in Europe, one of the biggest children's libraries in the UK, the county's Archive and Archaeology service, the Worcestershire Hub customer contact centre, a contemporary business centre and café.
