Want to get involved? Volunteering opportunities will create a Buzz at The Hive

Worcestershire County Council and the University of Worcester are calling on people to consider becoming a volunteer at The Hive in anticipation of the opening of this iconic building on 2nd July 2012.

The Hive is set to become a hub for Worcestershire and home to a variety of important services for the community including the Worcestershire Hub, Archive and Archaeology Service as well as being the first joint public and university library in Europe.

The Hive is now recruiting a team of volunteers for a variety of roles to support the daily running of the building. Roles include meeters and greeters, computer buddies, tour guides and events support.

People who have a good understanding of computers and would like to help others are offered the opportunity to help Hive users build the skills and confidence they need to use computers for everyday use.

Other volunteers are sought to help create a friendly and welcoming environment for all visitors working front of house as a meeter and greeter. Passionate and enthusiastic people will flourish sharing their knowledge as a tour guide or choose to support Hive staff with a variety of exciting events throughout the year.

Dr Judith Keene, Assistant Director of Information and Learning Services at the University of Worcester said: "All volunteers will gain invaluable experience themselves supporting the community and being part of The Hive's team of friendly and helpful staff. The support volunteers provide will make an enormous difference to customers using The Hive and be enjoyable so please do get involved."

Applications are welcome from all sections of the community regardless of experience as full training will be provided for the roles volunteers will be involved with. What are you waiting for? To apply now, visit the website at www.worcester.ac.uk
