Web-tastic Family Fun Event

Worcestershire County Council is inviting families in Worcestershire to a fun filled event where they can find out more about Children's Centre Online.

On Friday October 5th, from 9am to 4pm, parents and carers can come along to The Hive in Worcester City and make use of the free computers to get their family questions answered. From 11am to 12.30pm and 2 to 3pm children will also be able to take part in free, exciting activities including competitions.

Children's Centre Online is a new website giving advice and support to families 24/7 on issues such as child routines, domestic abuse, communicating with your baby, post-natal depression and more. You can also search for your everyday family questions such as feeding, sleeping, baby blues and relationships. The website will be showcased at the event, where staff will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. Other online family websites can also be shown to parents and carers, such as applying for your child's school place and searching for childcare and family activities.

To make it fun for babies and toddlers, families can take part in a range of activities including storytelling, Rhythm & Rhyme, digging for treasure, and colouring competitions. There will also be a special appearance from the very popular blue Bookstart Bear!

Cath Ellicott, Project Manager for Children's Centre Online said, "The event is a great way for families who are uncertain about using the internet to come along and see what support and information is available online. They can then access the website, in their own time, whenever they need support. Staff will be on hand to answer any questions and help parents and carers search for family information they need."

Also at the event will be children's centre staff, so you can find out about events at your local children's centre, breastfeeding and family advice from Worcestershire Health Visitors and Family Information Service and School Admissions staff. The event will be held at The Hive, a partnership between Worcestershire County Council and the Univerisity of Worcester, on The Butts in Worcester. If you are unable to come along to the event, you can view Children's Centre Online by visiting and clicking on Children's Centre Online.
